Good game

Reviewer: Adam Slater,
This is possibly the most addictive game I have ever played. I loved it. The difficulty level was much higher than most other games in this category. The only thing I didn't like about it was the difficulty in finding characters especially when several are being used. But I still loved it.

This game is the best one I have played so far. It is very interesting and fun to play, even after you complete the game (which doesn't happen quickly)it is great to replay it. I would recommend this for anyone that enjoys virtual games. I am looking forward now to starting Westward 2.

Update: I have now played all four Westward games and they are all wonderful. I still enjoy playing this game again and again even though I enjoy the newer ones too. They are amazing, refreshing, rewarding games. I have found no game that equals this series. I wish other game creators would take tips from this one.

Addicting ...

Don't turn on this game unless you have a solid block of time - because you want to keep going, and going, and going.

The first two levels are a tutorial, teaching you the things you need to know to have fun playing the game. Lots of little "side trips" you can take to learn how to do new things to protect yourself better from the bandits, and to unlock new areas of the game.

One favorite "special area" I managed to unlock let me blow up outhouses until I found a lost character. Now that was an experience worth ... hmmmm, words escape me.

But it's good clean fun all around - a lot of action and strategic planning and warm fuzzies when you figure it out.

I found it helpful to save my game at certain points, since I could go back and try again from that point if things didn't work out. And, once you reach a certain level, you can restart the game at that level at any point.

I only gave it four stars because I think it would have been helpful to know how to move around the area more easily (you have to unlock extended mouse scrolling - and you have to right click and drag instead of left click and drag). But I would highly recommend this to anyone enjoying strategic games.

Now - where did that noise of shooting come from. Are they back - oh no! Have to go hire me some gunslingers at the Saloon ...
Not Half Bad

I always snatch the sale games up, as I did with this. Once I loaded it I started to regret buying it when I saw the graphics. However, I gave it a fair shot and before I knew it two hours flew by! This is a fun, addicting game with lots of different play componets. There is fighting, moving, building, mining and collecting. A very interesting Sim! The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars are the graphics. They aren't bad but not up to par with most games these days. Still well worth it!
