I heard someone on a seminar saying "you need to figure out your WHY and you need to believe you can." This line makes me want to choke those that use it.
The top earners in most companies would have you believe that nothing will stop you as soon as you reach that breaking point.
You know! If you are sick and tired of being broke, all you need to do is listen to some inspirational CD's and cut out pictures of cars, houses, and vacations you want and stick them up everywhere as reminders of why you are working so hard. Think positive and go to all the meetings you can and just hanging with all those massively successful people will inspire you and motivate you into an unstoppable force.
Stop!.. Think about that... Is fanatical motivation what it takes to succeed in network marketing? Did you need a "why" to get to $30,000 or $40,000 per year? Did you need a dream board to get a car to drive?
It seems to me that if you were building a business the right way you would see signs of you efforts immediately.
I know, most people will say that any business is going to need time to show profit. You will have to pay your dues before it will pay off. But this is not a brick and mortar business with a huge overhead so it seems as if you would see some results if you were doing the right things business-wise.
The average duration of a network marketer is three months so anyone who is still trying after four or five months really needs no motivation because they would have quit by then. Think about building a business like building a house. You start by digging a footing for your foundation. Would it work better digging with a teaspoon or a backhoe?
With the spoon you will need much more motivation and time. Using a system to gather leads, help them with business building resources using an auto-responder, and test how serious they are by showing them what a funded proposal is and how it works is like using a backhoe to dig your footing.
That tells you your motivation will need to be in direct proportion to how effective the tools you are using are. Which type of prospect do you think will require more motivation to recruit?
An uninterested friend or relative that has no interest in starting their own business and did NOT go searching for your product? Or a real prospect that gave you their contact info because they did a search, found your site, think you are an authority on the subject, and want more information?
To me it seems like it would be harder to pick that phone up to pester someone who don't give a hoot about my product or opportunity. After struggling with that type of prospect for months it would be a pleasure to call someone who is interested enough to do a search and leave their info for me.
If you used a funded proposal, which is a vehicle to make money while you are building your primary MLM, it would be one more step for your prospects to prove how serious they are before you ever call them.
When you have prospects taking several steps to become qualified you have a funnel set up and the ones who come out at the bottom are the serious ones worthy of your time.
If your sponsor tells you your business is struggling because you need more belief or motivation what they really mean is they don't know why it is not working for you. It is an easy answer and actually is a cop-out that means they do not have to know what they are talking about to give it to you. One of the main reasons though is everyone does not have a salesman's personality type so those old methods do not work for everyone.
No business can succeed without effective marketing techniques being utilized and your investment money does not have to be spent on motivational tapes or CD's. Use that money on training or tools for proper marketing techniques and you will be able to work with those who are interested in your product or opportunity and proved it by finding you.
Use an effective marketing plan or system to help prospects with resources automatically and you can spend your time working with the best of them to develop leaders.
